كَيۡفَ تَكۡفُرُوۡنَ بِاللّٰهِ وَڪُنۡتُمۡ اَمۡوَاتًا فَاَحۡيَاکُمۡۚ ثُمَّ يُمِيۡتُكُمۡ ثُمَّ يُحۡيِيۡكُمۡ ثُمَّ اِلَيۡهِ تُرۡجَعُوۡنَ‏ **here is the translation from clear quran** How can you deny God, when you were dead and He gave you life, then He will put you to death, then He will bring you to life, then to Him you will be returned? ## style - [ ] note on coming back to the central topic of the ‘ibadah’ of Allah which started this series of verses from verse no. 21 and then took a tour of Allah’s signs in nature as well as the Scripture and after all these clear proof, this verse starts with this rhetorical question - [ ] note ‘rhetorical question’ at the start of the verse. - [ ] the pronoun in ‘you disbelief’ تكفرون refers to the ‘mankind’ which started this block يا أيها الناس - [ ] note the meaning of Kufr and how close it is to the English word ‘cover’ # three verses related to our verse 1) ref. to **surah at-tur 35,36** below, showing that Allah is the one who created us from dust, because otherwise we a) can not be created from nothing, and b) can not created ourselves, which is an illogical. *Or were they created out of nothing? Or are they the creators?* *Or did they create the heavens and the earth? In fact, they are not certain.* 2) **verse 1 of surah al-insan** هل أتى على الإنسان حين من الدهر لم يكن Has there not come upon man a period of time when he was not a thing [even] mentioned? 3) verse **11, chapter 40 (ghafir) of the Quran**: قالوا ربنا أمتتنا اثنتين و أحييتنا اثنتين They will say, "Our Lord, You gave us death twice and gave us life twice, and we have confessed our sins. So is there to an exit any way?" # Our life story in 4 stages **these are the stages of our life between 2 deaths and 2 lives** - [ ] 1) we were dead when we were nothing in the womb of our moms, and can not sense anything. **death means various things in the Quran** - [ ] the word ‘death’ is used to mean ‘lifeless’ as Allah used this word to describe the stone-made statues in surah an-nahl 21 **Translation of verse 21, chapter 16 of the Quran: أَمْوَاتٌ غَيْرُ أَحْيَاءٍ*And those you invoke other than Allah do not create [anything], but they themselves are created*.** - [ ] also, the word ‘death’ is used to describe the barren earth like a desert that has no plantation. as in surah yasin-33 Translation of verse 33, chapter 36 of the Quran: وآية لهم الأرض الميتة *And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat.* - [ ] the ‘death’ status is also true to a fetus in the womb before it starts to heartbeat - [ ] also note that Allah has created ‘death’ as he created ‘life’ as in sura al-Mulk (2) هو الذي خلق الموت والحياة ليبلوكم أيكم أحسن عملا - [ ] 2) then we started to be a living creature in the womb of our mother and stay a while on this earth. no one denies this part as we see them all the time. - [ ] the magnificent power of Allah who is able to move the fetus in the womb from lifeless objects such as clots of bool to life. - [ ] note on how no advanced science and technology can create life in the lab 3) then we will die. no one denies this part, as we experience them ourselves. 4) the final part is when we will be raised again. - [ ] the infidels did not believe in this part, but Allah is telling them that He who was able to create after death and make us die is not a big deal for him - [ ] so in this method, Allah is teaching us a tool of argument which is ‘to step on facts that they agree, and proceed to facts they do not agree, when the embedded power and miracle is the same’ - [ ] then ‘we return to him’, this indicates that the return means subjecting to accountability and question and answer
